COURSE DESCRIPTION: READ HEBREW/READ BIBLICAL HEBREW is directed to language learning and language acquisition.

A.    Language Learning (Learning About Hebrew) This course introduces the student to the origin of the Hebrew tongue, its presage from the biblical patriarchs until today, and the recent resurrection of Hebrew as the national language of Israel; this course also introduces the student to biblical Hebrew so that he/she may read and know the inspired meaning of the Hebrew authors and have grasp of the task of interpretation.

B.  Language Acquisition (Learning to Read and Speak Hebrew). This course introduces the student to the Hebrew alephbeit and its the twenty-two consonants, the vowels, grammar, and semantics of Hebrew, and within a year the student will be reading the Hebrew Bible. This course will also introduce the student to conversational Hebrew terms that is used in Israel today, so that the student may be able to travel to Israel on a Mission/ Tour with CMI (or, other) and communicate albeit little or much in modern Hebrew.

The Hebrew Tongue, Please! It is my personal aspiration that every Hebrew student of this class will have a deeper insight and a better understanding of God’s Word, since Hebrew was the ‘mother tongue’ of ALL the biblical authors (Old Testament and New Testament), the biblical patriarchs, the biblical heroes of faith, the biblical protagonists, the biblical prophets, judges, and twelve tribes, the Messiah Yeshua, His talmidim, the entire first church, the first missionaries of Messiah, and perhaps will be the tongue of the millennial kingdom.

PERSONAL NOTE

A student said to his professor, “I can learn anything, that you can teach! I can understand anything, that you can explain.”

I struggled very much in school! I had learning disabilities that were not defined in my young years (e.g. dyslexia, dysgraphia, ADHD or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder). Yet, because of an influential pastor, the most excellent speaker and most knowledgeable bible teacher I have ever known, Dr. Hugh Van Eaton, I learned to love the divine library, I learned to love Israel, I learned to love reading, I learned to love many books, and I learned to love teaching and preaching. I also learned from Dr. Eaton that often students do not learn because a teacher cannot teach and/or explain. Schools have vocational teachers who are not gifted to teach, and more sad, churches do, also.  So, I say to you, I will do my best to both teach and explain in such a manner, gradually and accurately, so that you will both learn and understand!
